DOYLESTOWN, Pa. - The Drew University women's soccer team scored five times in the second half to earn a decisive 6-0 victory in non-conference action at Delaware Valley University Saturday evening.
Drew pushed its record to 2-3 with the win while the Aggies fell to 1-3-1.
Five different Rangers scored a goal, including junior
Leah Dentale, who netted a pair of tallies for her first collegiate multi-goal outing.
The Blue and Green outshot Del Val 18-3 and yielded just one shot on goal.
The Rangers received all the scoring they would need when Dentale converted off a feed from freshman
Gabby Gilgorri in the 17th minute. Drew held an 8-2 shot advantage in the half, but Aggie keeper Haley Young made all four of her saves during the period to keep it close.
Senior
Alexa Simon doubled Drew's lead when she scored off an assist from junior
Lauren Cassella in the 59th minute. Dentale struck again in the 64th minute, finishing off a pass from junior
Marissa McGaffney.
The Rangers made it three goals in seven minutes when freshman
Ayla Lopez got into the act, scoring off assists from juniors
Shannon Miller and
Julia Caracappa in the 66th minute for her first collegiate goal.
Freshman
Emily Ruane duplicated Lopez' feat in the 77th minute, scoring off an assist from sophomore
Ela Christensen for her first college goal. Junior
Lauren DeLillo provided the finishing touches when she scored as time expired.
Freshmen
Angela Accetturo and
Anthi Panayides split the time in goal for the Rangers. Accetturo did not face a shot on goal in the first half before Panayides stopped the only shot on frame in the second period.
The Rangers return home on Wednesday, when they take on Ramapo College at 7 p.m. in a non-conference tilt.
