Rangers Stopped by No. 13 Arcadia

GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Rangers blanked 13th-ranked Arcadia University in the second half, but the host Knights scored two goals in the first period and handed the Rangers a 2-0 setback in non-conference women's soccer action Tuesday evening.

With the win, Arcadia remained undefeated at 9-0-1. The Rangers are now 3-4 on the season.

Drew was playing its third nationally-ranked opponent of the season

The Rangers put a shot on goal early, but freshman Gabby Gilgorri's attempt in the ninth minute was saved by Brianna Williams. Arcadia then scored on its third shot of the game, as Bridget Sway netted an unassisted tally in the 15th minute.

The Knights scored their final goal in the 41st minute, when Megan Mannato scored off an assist from Riley Ratcliffe on the team's final shot of the half. Drew placed another shot on frame just before the end of the stanza, but Williams stopped a shot off the foot of freshman Ayla Lopez.

Arcadia outshot the Rangers 9-2 in the opening half, when freshman Angela Accetturo made collected four saves.

In the second half, Drew limited the Knights to just two shots on goal, which were both stopped by Accetturo. Junior Sarah Racine attempted a shot on goal in the 58th minute, when Gabby Green made a save. Arcadia held an 11-3 advantage in overall shots in the period.

Accetturo finished with six saves - her second-highest total this season.

The Rangers open Landmark Conference play on Saturday, when they host Goucher College at 4 p.m.
