MADISON, N.J. - The Drew University women's volleyball team rallied from a 2-0 deficit to earn a 3-2 victory over Arcadia University to come away with a split in a tri-match at Kean University on Saturday.
After the Knights won the opening sets 25-15 and 25-19, Drew stormed back to win 25-12, 25-22, and 15-6
Earlier in the day, the Rangers lost 3-0 (25-19, 25-15, 25-9) to Kean and are now 18-7 on the season.
Against Arcadia, freshman
Andrea Camacho-Tenreiro posted 12 kills and 24 digs while classmate
Ashley Carkhuff notched 10 kills, 22 digs, and four aces. Defensively, sophomore
Melina Christodoulou turned in a spectacular performance with seven blocks. Other top performers included freshmen
Peyton McGregor (six kills),
Shelby Weeden (21 assists, nine digs),
Jasmine Butler (15 assists), and
Lauren Gaza (27 digs).
The Rangers' comeback was spurred by a 17-5 run to open the third set. However, Drew had its back against the wall in the fourth set, when it trailed 20-13. However, the Blue and Green erupted for a 12-2 run to close out the period.
Drew continued its momentum right into the final set, jetting out to an 11-3 lead.
Versus Kean, Camacho-Tenreiro had nine kills and 15 digs, Butler handed out 12 assists, and Gaza scooped 13 digs.
The Rangers close out the regular season with three home Landmark Conference matches this week, starting with a 7 p.m. match-up with Elizabethtown College on Wednesday.
