MADISON, N.J. - The Drew University women's volleyball team nearly rallied to tie the match at 1-1, but the University of Scranton defeated the Rangers 3-0 in the first-ever Landmark Conference (LC) women's volleyball match in Baldwin Gym.
After the Royals won the opening set 25-19, Drew trailed 20-11 in the second period before catching fire. The Rangers outscored Scranton 12-2 to come all the way back to take the lead (23-22) on a setter dump rom freshman

Kiara Vasquez served on the final five points of the rally for Drew and served up two aces during the spurt.
Scranton was serving for set point at 24-23 before freshman
Ashley Carkhuff perfectly placed a shot into the back corner to tie it again, marking her fourth kill during the rally. But the Royals came back with a pair of kills to take the set 26-24 before clinching the match with a 25-12 third-set victory.
Freshman
Andrea Camacho-Tenreiro finished with 11 kills and 10 digs for the Rangers (12-5, 0-3 LC), who lost at home for the first time in team history after starting 8-0 on their home hardwood. Carkhuff contributed 11 kills while Butler distributed 21 assists. Freshman
Lauren Gaza scooped 14 digs.
Scranton won its 12th match in a row while improving to 18-2 and 3-0 in conference play.
Drew returns home on Friday, when it takes on John Jay College at 7 p.m. in a non-conference match.
