MADISON, N.J. – The Drew University men's soccer team will look to stay hot when it hosts Elizabethtown College in the semifinals of the Landmark Conference (LC) Championships on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Ranger Stadium.
The Rangers (8-7-1, 5-1-1 LC) closed out the regular season with four-straight victories in which they outscored their opponents 8-2. Drew tied Catholic University for first in the final Landmark Conference standings, but due to the Catholic's head-to-head victory over the Rangers this season, the Cardinals earned the No. 1 seed in the conference championships. Drew is the No. 2 seed while Elizabethtown (9-5-2, 4-2-1 LC) is No. 3.
The Blue and Green are making their 11th appearance in the Landmark Conference postseason and are gunning for their third title, having won it in 2007 and 2017. Drew will be hosting an LC tournament game for the first time since hosting the 2017 Landmark Conference final in which the Rangers defeated Elizabethtown 3-1.
Catholic (9-6-2, 5-1-1 LC) and fourth-seeded Susquehanna (9-7-2, 3-2-2 LC) will meet in the other semifinal on Tuesday.
The semifinal winners will meet in the championship game on Saturday at the highest remaining seed. The winner of the tournament receives an automatic bid in the NCAA Division III Tournament.
The Rangers and Elizabethtown will be meeting for the second time in just 11 days. Drew earned a thrilling 2-1 overtime victory in Ranger Stadium on Oct. 23.
Under Head Coach
Lenny Armuth, the Rangers have made their mark as an stingy defensive side during Landmark Conference play, allowing a conference-low five goals over their seven LC matches.
Ticket prices are $7 for adults, $4 for minors ages 10-17, and free for all Landmark Conference students, faculty, and staff with a valid school ID as well as children under 10.
