Men's Basketball Topped by Haverford

HAVERFORD, Pa. - Despite four players scoring in double figures, the Drew University men's basketball team lost by a final of 73-66 at Haverford College in a non-conference match-up Wednesday evening.

Senior guard David Gervase led all players with 16 points for the Rangers (3-5) while senior guard Lybrant Robinson posted his first double-double at Drew with 14 points and a career-high 12 rebounds. Junior forward Howard McBurnie, Jr. recorded 12 points and 14 boards while senior guard Miles Lewis netted 10 points.

Josh Love posted a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds to pace Haverford (5-4).

The Rangers jumped out to a quick 8-2 lead over the opening 3:16. However, that's when Haverford used a 17-2 run to go up by nine (19-10) with 8:51 showing in the half, and the hosts led 31-22 at the break.

After trailing by 14 early in the second half, Drew rallied to make it a one-point game following a 13-0 run. The Rangers knocked down three 3-pointers during the surge, which was capped by triples from Gervase and Robinson that made it 44-43 with 12:52 remaining.

Drew trailed just 55-51 with 9:32 on the clock, but that's when Haverford pulled away with a 7-0 spurt, as the Rangers were unable to get closer than seven the rest of the way.

The Rangers return to the court on Saturday, when they host Brooklyn College at 3 p.m. in another non-conference match-up.
