MADISON, N.J. - Sophomore
Craig Wilkie scored three goals, but the Drew University men's lacrosse team lost by a final of 16-5 in a Landmark Conference affair and the regular-season finale for both teams Wednesday evening in Ranger Stadium.
Freshmen
Kellum Foster-Palmer and
Michael Phillips added one goal and one assist each for the Rangers while senior
Michael McGeeney finished with 15 saves. Senior
Miles Savage won 12 of 22 face-offs.
The Rangers held a brief Senior Day ceremony prior to the game, recognizing its senior class of McGeeney, Savage,
Angelo Angione,
Jonny Bronander, and
Sam Smiley.
The Greyhounds scored the first three goals of the game before Foster-Palmer answered for the Rangers, scoring with 29 seconds left in the first quarter to make it 3-1.
Moravian came back with 8-0 run that spanned the second and third quarters. Drew snapped its scoring drought when Wilkie struck for a man-up tally with 7:48 left in the third, converting a dish from sophomore Foster-Palmer. Wilkie found paydirt again just over two minutes later on a pass from sophomore
Kyle Weeks the Rangers cut the gap to 11-3.
The Greyhounds would run off four unanswered goals to assume a 15-3 advantage before Drew netted two of the last three tallies. Phillips scored with 8:19 to go, then set up Wilkie's final goal with 6:46 showing.
The Rangers are the No. 6 seed in the Landmark Conference Championships and will visit No. 3 Scranton in the quarterfinals at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
