EDWARDSVILLE, Pa. — Sophomore
Christian Tyson picked an opportune time to score his first collegiate goal, striking late in the first overtime to hand the Drew University men's soccer team a 1-0 non-conference victory at Wilkes University Saturday afternoon.
Junior
Chris Scariano initiated the game-winner, stepping in front of a pass and tapping the ball forward to Tyson on the left side of the field. Tyson took one dribble into the box and fired a shot inside the far post to hand the Rangers (1-2) their first victory of the season.
Senior
Alex Idrovo collected four saves to earn his first career shutout for Drew. He stopped two shots in each of the first two halves as the Rangers handed the Colonels (3-1) their first loss of the year.
Drew outshot Wilkes 13-12 and fired off eight shots on goal, including three from Tyson and two from freshman
Tino Puentes. However, Zach tone kept the hosts in it with six saves.
The Rangers continue their season on Wednesday, when they host TCNJ at 4:30 p.m. in another non-conference tilt.
