MADISON, N.J. - Sophomore
Rebecca Racine scored twice and the Drew University women's soccer team captured its home opener with a 3-0 victory over Bard College on the first day of the Drew Fall Festival on Saturday in Ranger Stadium.
Junior
Ayla Lopez added one goal and one assist for the Rangers, who outshot the Raptors 30-8 and allowed just one shot on goal.
Racine scored four minutes into the game off an assist from Lopez to give Drew all the scoring it would need.
The Rangers held onto their one-goal lead for the next 72 minutes before Lopez gave her team some breathing room, converting a feed from freshman
Autumn Slack with 15 minutes left. Lopez has now scored in each of the last two matches.
Racine set the final score with an unassisted tally in the 86th minute. She has now scored four goals over the team's first three matches.
A pair of goalies shared time between the pipes. Junior
Anthi Panayides started and did not face a shot on frame during the first half. Freshman
Amina Cirkiel played the second period and turned aside one shot.
The Rangers wrap up play at the Drew Fall Festival on Sunday, when they take on Coast Guard at 2:30 p.m. Bard and Westfield State face off at noon.
