MADISON, N.J. - The Drew University women's volleyball team rolled to its fifth straight victory with a 3-0 sweep of Keystone College Tuesday evening in Baldwin Gym.
The Rangers (7-1) have now posted a sweep in six of their seven victories during their inaugural season.
Thirteen different players entered the game for Drew, with 11 Rangers posting at least one kill.
Freshman
Ashley Carkhuff, sophomore
Melina Christodoulou, and senior
Murielle Mason posted seven kills apiece to lead the Blue and Green, which hit a season-best .516. Drew served up 16 aces - its second-highest total of the season - with freshmen
Andrea Camach-Tenreiro and
Genevieve Sarinelli firing up four apiece. Freshman
Jasmine Butler distributed 17 assists for the Rangers.
In the first set, Drew led 8-7 before closing the match on a 17-1 run. Freshman
Shelby Weeden served on nine straight points for the Rangers, firing up three aces along the way, before Camach-Tenreiro served on the final seven points, when she racked up all four of her aces.
The Rangers used another long run in the second set, ending it on a 20-1 surge. Sarinelli and Mason served most of the way, with Sarinelli dropping in three aces.
Drew opened the final set on an 8-3 spurt and never looked back, gradually pulling away.
The Rangers play their fourth straight home match on Thursday, when they host Misericordia in another non-conference outing.
