Women's Soccer Earns 6-0 Victory in Season Opener

BALTIMORE - Freshman Alexa Krause and sophomore Rebecca Racine scored two goals apiece to lead the Drew University women's soccer team to a convincing 6-0 victory in its season opener at Notre Dame of Maryland University Sunday afternoon.

The Rangers out-shot the Gators 30-2.

Krause broke open a scoreless match when she scored in the 28th minute. Racine then scored twice in 19 seconds late in the half to hand the Rangers a 3-0 lead at the intermission.

Krause struck again early in the second half before junior Gabby Gilgorri got in the scoring act, converting in the 61st minute. Senior Madi Precht set the final score with her tally in the 83rd minute.

All three Drew goalies entered the game, with junior starter Anthi Panayides making one save over the opening 64 minutes. Freshman Amina Cirkiel (22 minutes) and sophomore Brenna DeVoe (four minutes) also saw action between the pipes.

The Rangers return to the pitch on Tuesday, when they visit Stockton at 7 p.m. in another non-conference tilt.
