GALLOWAY, N.J. - Stockton University scored in the 88th minute and the Ospreys edged the Drew University women's soccer team 3-2 in a non-conference match Tuesday evening.
Playing for the second time in three days, the Rangers (1-1) struck quickly, scoring just 29 seconds into the match. Junior
Ayla Lopez took a long pass from classmate
Emma Shatel and took one touch around the goalie before punching in her first goal of the season.
The Ospreys (1-1-1) rallied, however, scoring in the 25th minute to make it a 1-1 game at the half before striking again in the 52nd minute to go up 2-1.
Drew pulled even in the 83rd minute, when sophomore
Jessie Brannick headed in a corner kick from freshman
Sarah Passey for her first collegiate goal. But Stockton would answer with the game-winning goal five minutes later, however, on a shot from the top of the box.
Junior
Anthi Panayides saved a pair of shots in goal for the Rangers while Kylee Sullivan stopped five shots for Stockton.
Drew continues its season this weekend, when it welcomes Bard, Coast Guard, and Westfield State for the Drew Fall Festival. The Rangers face Bard at 1 p.m. on Saturday and Coast Guard at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday.
