FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. – The Drew University men's golf team opened play at the Royal Lakes Invitational, hosted by Oglethorpe University at Royal Lakes Golf & Country Club on Monday.
The Rangers shot a 299 and are currently in 11th place in a competitive field of 22 teams.
Leading the way for Drew was freshman
Elliot Parker, who fired a 2-under-par 70 – the best round by any Ranger golfer this season and just one stroke shy of the school record. He finds himself three strokes off the lead and in a seven-way tie for sixth place heading into Tuesday's final round.
Senior
Lucas Artigliere posted the second-best score for the Rangers on Monday, carding a 74. He is tied for 35th place in the 124-man field. Sophomore
Mike Ford is two strokes back with a 76 and is tied for 53rd.
Rounding out the team scoring for Drew was freshmen
Bryce Garnier, who shot a 79 and is tied for 85th. Classmate
Matt Ingram also competed and posted an 81, tying him for 96th.
Greensboro leads the team standings with a 283 while Washington and Lee's Pierce Robinson is the individual leader with a 67.
Round Two gets underway at 8 a.m. on Tuesday at the same course.
