Women’s Volleyball Sweeps Past Vassar

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Sophomore Andrea Camacho-Tenreiro posted 15 kills to lead the Drew University women's volleyball team to a 3-0 win over host Vassar College in a non-conference match Tuesday evening.

The Rangers won by scores of 25-18, 25-18, and 25-14.

Camacho-Tenreiro made just five errors on 37 swings to finish with a .270 hitting night. It was her seventh match this season with at least 15 kills.

Sophomore Jasmine Butler dished out 27 assists and served up four aces for the Rangers (10-9) while junior Leila Ksiyer contributed five aces and 11 digs. Sophomore Lauren Gaza also scooped 11 digs.

The Rangers never trailed in the opening set after racing out to a 7-2 lead. A 4-0 run midway through the set, started by three straight kills from junior Melina Christodoulou, pushed the team's lead to 13-6, and it led by at least five the rest of the way.

Drew took control early in the second set as well, outscoring the Brewers 8-0 to start the stanza. Camacho-Tenreiro threw down three kills during the stretch while Ksiyer served on the final seven points. Vassar pulled to within three on three occasions, the last coming at 16-13, before the Rangers broke it open with a 7-1 run capped by consecutive aces from Camacho-Tenreiro.

The final set was a back-and-forth affair in the early going and Vassar led 12-9 early. But Drew answered with the next five points, which turned into a 16-2 run to end the match. Butler served on the final eight points for the Rangers and collected three of her aces during the run.

Drew returns home on Thursday, when they it faces Stevens at 7 p.m. in a non-conference tilt.
