ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Elizabethtown netted a goal in each half, as the Drew University men's soccer team fell 2-0 on Saturday in Pennsylvania.
Drew (10-2-3, 0-2-2) continues Landmark Conference play on Wednesday, traveling to the University of Scranton for a 7:00 p.m. match.
The teams appeared headed into halftime in a scoreless tie, but the Blue Jays tallied with 4:58 on the clock when Ryan Helper snuck a low shot to the left side past Ranger keeper
Calum Erlenborn.
Drew had a chance to get the goal right back when
Tino Puentes fired a shot toward the lower-left side of the goal that Blue Jay goalie Kelvin Del Cid collected to protect the lead heading into the break.
Elizabethtown quickly doubled the advantage in the second stanza, as Jake Groh made it 2-0 with only 1:22 expired.
The Rangers held a 7-3 shot advantage in the second half, but the Blue Jays accounted for the lone goal to make it a 2-0 final.
Shots on goal were hard to come by for each team as they both had three. Erlenborn had one save for the Rangers and Del Cid recorded three for the Blue Jays.
