Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Krause, Racine Power Women’s Soccer at Etown

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Sophomore Alexa Krause and junior Rebecca Racine scored two goals apiece, leading the Drew University women's soccer team to a 4-1 victory at Elizabethtown College in a Landmark Conference (LC) tilt Saturday afternoon.

With 10 points, the Rangers (8-4-2, 3-1-1 LC) are now in third place in the Landmark Conference standings with two conference matches left.

The win was Drew's first over the Etown since 2013, as the Blue Jays had won the previous seven meetings.

The Rangers have now posted their best record through 14 matches since the 2013 team opened the season 13-1.

In the 14th minute, Krause hauled in a long pass from sophomore Kat Kugler, took several dribbles down the left side of the field, and ripped a shot that deflected off the keeper. Krause was right there with the rebound, giving her team a 1-0 lead.

Krause struck again in the 37th minute. Senior Emma Shatel sparked a goal with a long pass from beyond midfield that was headed forward by classmate Gabby Gilgorri. Krause eluded a defender to find an open field in front of her. She took one dribble and beat the goalie low for her conference-leading 12th tally of the season.

Senior Anthi Panayides saved all three Etown shots on goal in the opening period as the Rangers carried a 2-0 lead into the break.

Shatel also helped set up Drew's next goal, which was scored less than two minutes into the second half. She sent in a pass from the left corner, and after a deflection from a defender, Kugler skipped a pass to Racine, who drilled a shot high into the net from the right post, extending the Rangers' lead to 3-0.

The Blue Jays made it a two-goal game when Skylar Mumford scored two minutes later. However, Racine provided an insurance tally in the 57th minute, tucking a long shot just inside the left post for her eighth goal of the year.

Sophomore Amina Cirkiel, who entered the game at the start of the second half, saved Etown's final three shots on goal to help secure the win.

Each side took 16 shots and made six saves for the game. Trinity Soto collected all six saves for the Blue Jays (5-7-1, 1-3-1 LC).

The Rangers are back in action on Tuesday, when they visit Delaware Valley University at 7:30 p.m. in their final non-conference regular-season game of the year.
