WAYNESBORO, Pa. – The Drew University men's golf team fired a school-record-tying 291 on the second and final day of the Mason-Dixon Invitational, held at the Waynesboro Country Club and hosted by Gettysburg College and McDaniel College.
The Rangers climbed three places in the team standings on Sunday and finished sixth out of 21 teams in the tournament, carding a 36-hole score of 601. Gettysburg won with a 589 while Franklin & Marshall College and McDaniel tied for second with a 593.
Drew's 291 marked the second-best round of the entire tournament, behind only Farmingdale State's 288 on Sunday. The Rangers have now shot a 291 in each of their three, two-day events thus far this year.
Three different Rangers shot a 72 in the second round, including freshman
Elliot Parker, who finished with a 147 (75-72), tying for 10th among 104 golfers. Classmate
Matt Ingram was the team's next-best finisher, tying for 22nd with a 150 (74-76).
Sophomore
Mike Ford and senior
Lucas Artigliere also shot 72s on Sunday, marking the season-best round for both Rangers. Ford tied for 34th with a 152 (80-72) while Artigliere tied for 46th with a 153 (81-72).
Freshman
Bryce Garnier also competed and tied for 59th with a 156 (81-75).
Drew is back in action on Oct. 10, when they travel to the Royal Lakes Invitational, held at Royal Lakes Golf and Country Club in Flowery Branch, Georgia and hosted by Oglethorpe University.
