WAYNE, N.J. – Sophomore
Kat Kugler scored in the 55th minute and the Drew University women's soccer team battled host William Paterson University to a 1-1 in a non-conference match-up Wednesday evening.
The Rangers (6-3-2) outshot the Pioneers 12-7, but William Paterson got on the scoreboard first, when Madelynn Spink struck in the fifth minute. The hosts went on to outshoot Drew 7-2 in the opening half, but that's when senior
Anthi Panayides made both of her saves and it was a 1-0 game at the break.
Drew turned the tables in the second half, when it ran up a 10-0 shot advantage. On the second shot of the period, Kugler took a feed from sophomore
Alexa Krause and buried her second goal of the year for what held as the game-tying tally.
Krause and junior
Rebecca Racine each put a shot on target over the next 13 minutes, but both were turned away by Sarah Mantilla.
The Rangers return to play on Saturday, when they host Moravian University at 5 p.m. in a Landmark Conference affair.
