UNION, N.J. - The Drew University baseball team lost its season opener at Kean University by a final of 6-0 in a non-conference match-up Friday afternoon.
The contest marked the first game at Drew for first-year Head Coach 
Brian Eberly.
Senior 
Shane Benson led the Rangers at the plate, going 2-for-4. 
On the mound, senior 
Tim Jinks was the opening-day starter for the second year in a row for Drew. He worked five innings and yielded just one earned run (four total) on five hits and four walks. Freshman 
Kenny Yonker tossed the final three innings, yielding two runs on four hits and one walk while striking out two.
The Cougars plated one run apiece in the first and second innings before Jinks fired a pair of shutout innings. Kean scored a pair of unearned runs in the fifth, then tacked on two insurance runs in the seventh.
The Rangers return to Kean on Saturday to take on Alvernia University in another non-conference match-up beginning at 2 p.m.
