PATCHOGUE, N.Y. - The Drew University men's volleyball team came away with a split in a tri-match at Saint Joseph's-Long Island on Saturday afternoon.
The Rangers opened the day with a 3-0 sweep of Brooklyn College, winning by scores of 25-16, 25-12, and 25-20, before dropping a 3-0 decision to St. Joseph's (25-14, 25-9, 25-20).
Versus Brooklyn, freshman
Jacob Sledz posted 15 kills, 12 digs, and three service aces while classmate
Ephraim Smith posted a season-high 13 kills and just one error on 22 attempts for a .545 hitting performance. Freshman
Huriel Perez handed out 31 assists while sophomore
David Hoyt registered eight digs.
Against Saint Joseph's, a team that now boasts an 8-2 record, sophomore
Omarf Ortega-Reyes led the way with six kills while Smith tallied five kills. Perez passed out 17 assists while Sledz contributed eight digs.
Drew plays its second home match of the season on Tuesday, when it takes on Kean University at 7 p.m.
