NEW YORK - Freshman
Jacob Sledz posted 15 kills and seven digs, but the Drew University men's volleyball team lost 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 25-16) at Hunter College Thursday evening.
Sophomore
Omarf Ortega-Reyes contributed six kills and eight digs for Drew (7-11) while freshman
C.J. Addeo also posted six kills. Freshman
Ephraim Smith totaled five kills while classmate
Huriel Perez handed out 25 assists. Junior
Furat Alhayek threw down three blocks (one solo).
Ted Kim paced the Hawks (4-5) with 15 kills.
Drew led for most of the first set and were up by as much as six early on. The Rangers led 19-16 before seeing Hunter end the set on a 9-2 run.
The second set was a back-and-forth affair, but Drew held a late lead once again. The Blue and Green were on top 20-19 before the Hawks ended with a flurry again, this time using a 6-2 spurt to end the period.
Hunter never trailed the final set after starting on a 9-3 run, and the Rangers were unable to get closer than five the rest of the way.
The Rangers back in play on Wednesday, when they host Wilkes University at 7 p.m.
