Men's Tennis Earns Victory Over Endicott

MADISON, N.J. - Senior Dan Blumenthal and junior Avi Perera earned two victories apiece and the Drew University men's tennis team defeated Endicott College 6-3 at a sunny and warm Drew Tennis Complex on Tuesday.

The Rangers (5-2), competing on their newly-resurfaced courts for the first time, opened up a 2-1 lead after doubles play before capturing four of the six singles matches.

Perera tallied both of his victories at the top of the lineup, first teaming up with senior Bret Schuler for an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles before scoring a 6-2, 6-1 victory. at No. 1 singles. 

Blumenthal started his day at No. 3 doubles and, along with junior Leo Ambrogio, notched an 8-3 victory. Later on, he rallied for a tight three-set victory at No. 2 singles, winning 2-6, 7-6 (2), 6-3.

Sophomore Santo Carroccia, the reigning Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week, won 6-4, 6-3 at No. 3 singles as the Rangers swept the top of the lineup. It was the fourth win in a row for Carroccia.

Junior John Dickey also came from behind to earn a singles win, rallying for a 6-7 (5), 6-2, 6-2 victory. Schuler nearly did the same at No. 5 singles, but his opponent held on to win 7-5, 1-6, 7-6 (5).

The Rangers will send split squads to Saint Elizabeth University (10 a.m.) and Wagner College (1 p.m.) on Saturday in a pair of non-conference matches.
