MADISON, N.J. - The Drew University men's soccer team opened its 2022 season on fire, scoring three goals in the first half en route to a 4-0 victory at cross-town rival FDU-Florham in non-conference action Thursday evening.
Balanced scoring did the trick for the Rangers, who received four goals from four different players.
Junior
Christian Tyson gave the Blue and Green their first goal of the season, converting a feed from classmate
Matthew Agudelo. Exactly three minutes later, the two switched roles when Agudelo finished off a pass from Tyson. Then in the 39th minute, sophomore
Thomas Zurkowski completed the big half, chipping in a shot high into the net off a cross from freshman
Gabe Di Pierro.
Junior
Michael Steinberg set the final score in the 89th minute, scoring his first collegiate goal.
Drew outshot the Devils 16-9 and senior
Calum Erlenborn saved both FDU shots on goal en route to his third career shutout.
The Rangers continue their four-day, three-game stretch to open the season when they play New Paltz in their home opener on Saturday at 5 p.m. in the Drew/FDU Fall Festival.
