Men's Soccer Wins at TCNJ, Improves to 6-0

EWING, N.J. – Junior Christian Tyson scored twice and sophomore Kevin Kiernan had a hand in all three of his team's goals as the Rangers earned a 3-1 road win over The College of New Jersey Wednesday evening in a non-conference match between a pair of regionally-ranked squads.

With the win, Drew pushed its record to 6-0 for the first time since 2011.

The Rangers, ranked eighth in the most recent United Soccer Coaches (USC) Division III Region V poll, never trailed after Tyson struck in the sixth minute. Junior Matthew Agudelo chipped a pass down the left side of the field into open space for Kiernan, who drove to the end line before making a perfect cross to Tyson for the tip-in goal.

The Lions, the No. 8 team in the USC Region IV rankings, pulled even in the 37th minute. But senior goalie Calum Erlenborn came up with a big save in the 40th minute, diving to smother a header and keep the score deadlocked at 1-1.

It didn't take long for the Rangers to score again in the second half. From the right side of the field, Agudelo lofted a free kick into the left side of the box to Kiernan, who bounced in a header for what held up as the game-winning goal.

Drew tacked on an insurance goal in the 86th minute. From beyond midfield, Kiernan sent a long pass up the right sideline to Tyson, who was suddenly all alone versus the goalie 25 yards out from the goal. He slipped by the keeper with one move and sent the ball into a wide-open net, setting the final score.

Erlenborn finished the night with three saves while Julian Franco stopped shots for the Lions.

The Rangers continue their season on Saturday, when they host Manhattanville College at 11 a.m. in another non-conference tilt.
