GALLOWAY, N.J. - The Drew University women's volleyball team rallied from a 2-0 deficit to force a fifth set, but Stockton University prevailed in the deciding stanza for a 3-2 victory over the Rangers in a non-conference match Thursday evening.
The Ospreys (3-3) won the opening two sets 25-21 and 25-22 before the Rangers prevailed 25-20 and 25-18 to even things. The hosts closed out the night with a 15-12 victory.
Sophomore
Andrea Camacho-Tenreiro paced the Rangers (4-4) with 20 kills and 14 digs. Junior
Melina Christodoulou contributed nine kills and four blocks while sophomore
Ashley Carkhuff fired nine kills and four aces. Sophomore
Jasmine Butler registered 37 assists and four aces, and classmate
Lauren Gaza scooped 25 digs. Freshman
Marissa Guajardo chipped in with four blocks.
Stockton was led by Kate Louer with 18 kills and 14 digs.
In an extremely tight opening set, neither side led by more than four. It was a 20-20 match before the Ospreys ended on a 5-1 run, getting a kill on their last four points.
Stockton never trailed in the second set after jumping out to a 7-1 lead. The Rangers rallied, however, and pulled to within one (22-21) late in the period. However, the hosts ended the set on a 3-1 spurt.

The third set was a back-and-forth affair that featured 12 ties and six lead changes. Drew held just a 19-18 lead before closing on a 6-2 surge,
After the Ospreys jumped out to a 6-1 lead in the fourth set, the Rangers climbed back into it and tied it at 10-all. The Blue and Green led 17-15 before using a 5-0 run to open up some breathing room.
Drew led just once, at 1-0, in the deciding set. However, it was close the entire way, with the hosts never leading by more than three. The Rangers trailed just 10-9 following a Carkhuff ace before Stockton scored the next two points. Camacho-Tenreiro kept the Rangers in it with a pair of late kills, her final making it 13-11, but it wasn't enough as the hosts scored two of the last three points.
The Rangers return home on Saturday, when they host a tri-match with Saint Elizabeth and Kean. Drew takes on Saint Elizabeth at 10 a.m. and Kean at 2 p.m.
