MADISON, N.J. – In their final test before Landmark Conference play, the Drew University women's volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 victory over Baruch College in a non-conference outing Tuesday evening in Baldwin Gym.
The Rangers (9-5) prevailed by scores of 25-13, 25-11, 25-14.
Drew received a balanced offensive attack, with junior
Melina Christodoulou and
Andrea Camacho-Tenreiro each posting six kills. Sophomore
Ashley Carkhuff and freshman
Inaya Stanford tallied five kills apiece. Sophomore
Jasmine Butler notched 21 assists and 13 digs while classmate
Lauren Gaza contributed 10 kills and a career-high-tying five service aces. Freshman
Marissa Guajardo contributed a season-high five blocks.
The Rangers never trailed in either of the first two sets. The final stanza was a closer affair, but Drew won going away, ending the match on a 9-1 run.
Drew plays its first two Landmark Conference matches on Saturday at Catholic University. The Rangers take on Catholic at 11 a.m. and fourth-ranked Juniata College at 4 p.m.
