Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Fast Start Propels Rangers Past Centenary

MADISON, N.J. – The Drew University women's soccer team scored four times in the first 10 minutes of the game, as the Rangers cruised to a 10-1 triumph over visiting Centenary on Sunday.

The Rangers (2-0) are home again on Wednesday, hosting Stockton University at 7:00 p.m.

Drew's offense is off to a fast start this season, scoring 15 goals in the opening two contests. The 10 goals scored tied for the second most in a game in program history.

The hosts took the lead 3:39 into the game when Alexa Krause fed a pass into the Cyclone penalty area where Ayla Lopez tucked a shot inside the right post for a 1-0 lead. It only took 32 seconds for the Rangers to double the lead, as Emma Shatel laced a rising shot from the top of the box that went into the net just under the crossbar.

Drew's next two tallies came 1:40 apart with Rebecca Racine cashing in on a nice pass from Isabella Grof-Tisza with 36:58 showing on the clock. Krause closed out the scoring in the frame moments later, running onto a ball near midfield, breaking in alone and netting chipping a shot into the back of the net.

In the second half, Lopez tallied her second of the contest with 38:58 on the clock, redirecting a cross from Grof-Tisza at the left post. Just over six minutes later, Grof-Tisza stripped a Cyclone defender of the ball and rolled a shot past the keeper for a 6-0 advantage.

Centenary got on the scoreboard in the 61st minute, as Blaise Vallorosi bodied the ball into the right side of the net.

Drew answered 2:30 later when Krause used her speed to split the defense for a breakaway, resulting in her team-leading fifth goal of the season. Racine made it 8-1 with her second of the contest 43 seconds later, while Rylee Sant'Angelo and Molly Kuhn each scored for the hosts in the final 10 minutes for the 10-1 final.

Lopez and Krause each finished with two goals and an assist, while Racine tallied twice.

In goal, Anthi Panayides improved to 2-0 for the Rangers.

Drew held a 31-3 advantage in shots and took six of the game's seven corner kicks.
