Men’s Soccer Shuts Out Moravian on the Road

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Junior Kevin Kiernan scored a pair of goals and sophomore Brandon Jachera made five saves to earn his first collegiate shutout and the Drew University men's soccer team registered a 3-0 Landmark Conference victory at Moravian University Tuesday evening.

The Rangers (7-4-2, 3-2 LC) piled up a 21-10 shot advantage and have now scored eight goals over their last two Landmark Conference victories after defeating Wilkes University 5-1 a week ago.

Drew outshot the Greyhounds 12-3 in the first half and put the Greyhounds on their heels early. The team fired off eight shots in the opening 21 minutes, and Kiernan capped the outburst with an unassisted tally. It held up as the only goal of the half and the Rangers led 1-0 at the half.

Sophomore James Cahill extended Drew's lead less than two minutes into the second half when he scored on a corner kick with the Rangers' first shot of the stanza.

Kiernan capped the scoring for the Rangers in the 57th minute, taking a pass from sophomore Jared Brown and punching in his sixth goal of the season.

Making his first appearance in over a month, Jachera made four of his stops in the second half, helping the Rangers post their fifth clean sheet of the season.

Drew returns to action on Saturday, when it hosts Goucher College at 2 p.m. in a Landmark Conference tilt during Ranger Weekend.
