FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – Sophomore Elliot Parker continued his outstanding fall season, winning the George Cangero Invitational, hosted by Farmingdale State University on Sunday at the Bethpage State Park.

Parker fired an even-par 70 while edging out teammate Shiv Bhaskar and three others by one stroke to earn his second medalist honor of the fall. He birdied three holes and parred 12 others while finishing with a 1-under 34 on the back-9. Parker has now shot under par in each of his first three events of the season.

As a team, the Rangers shot a 299 to place fourth in a field of eight teams. Swarthmore College and York (Pa.) College each shot a 293, but Swarthmore earned the team title on a fifth-man tiebreaker. Stevens finished third with a 298 and was followed by Drew, SUNY Delhi (303), Farmingdale State (305), Farmingdale State "B" (314), and SUNY Old Westbury (320).

The invitational was originally scheduled to be a 36-hole event, but Saturday's opening round was cancelled midway through it due to heavy rain that caused flooding of the greens.

Bhaskar closed the match on a tear, as he birdied three of his last six holes to also shoot a 34 on the back-9. He shot a 71 overall while picking up his second career runner-up finish.

Freshman Nicky Riscica shot Drew's next-best round, carding a 78, while classmate Eric Castner posted an 80 to round out the team scoring. Freshman Avery Cohen also competed and shot an 81.

The Rangers are back in action on Monday, when the "B" team travels to the Franklin & Marshall Invitational at Bent Creek Country Club in Lititz, Pennsylvania.
