SHAWNEE ON DELAWARE, Pa. – Led by medalist
Elliot Parker, the Drew University men's golf team put an exclamation mark on an outstanding fall season, cruising to a 24-stroke victory at the Landmark Conference Fall Preview Saturday and Sunday at the Shawnee Inn Golf Resort.
After opening with a 291 in the opening round on Saturday, the Rangers battled cold and extremely windy conditions on Sunday to fire an 8-over-par 296. The Blue and Green finished with a 36-hole score of 587 – just three strokes shy of the school record.
Goucher College finished second with a 611 while Catholic University and Moravian University tied for third with a 625.
It was Drew's first-ever Landmark Fall Preview title, though the Rangers won the official Landmark championship during the spring of 2022.
Parker fired a 2-under-par in each round to finish with 4-under 140 while outdistancing his nearest competitor by five strokes. He racked up six birdies on Sunday and 11 for the tournament while finishing just two strokes under his own 36-hole school record. Parker closed out the fall winning three of his four events while averaging a stellar 69.7 over seven rounds.
Junior
Mike Ford also turned in a stellar performance, tying for second in the field of 46 with a 145 (73-72). Ford accumulated four birdies on Sunday and six for the weekend.
Sophomore
Shiv Bhaskar and freshman
Avery Cohen also broke the top-10 for the Rangers to complete the team scoring. Bhaskar, who posted two birdies on Sunday and five for the tournament, placed fourth with a 148 (71-77) while Cohen also registered two birdies on Sunday and tied for 10th with a 154 (77-77).
Freshman
Nicky Riscica was also in action for the Rangers and tied for 28th with a 162 (83-79).
The Rangers, who averaged a 298.2 over 10 rounds for the all, will continue their season during the spring semester.
