Susquehanna Downs Women’s Soccer in Regular-Season Finale

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Susquehanna University scored a goal in each half and the host River Hawks handed the Drew University women's soccer team a 2-0 setback in a Landmark Conference tilt and the regular-season finale for both teams on Saturday.

The Rangers (11-6-1, 6-2-1 LC) finish the season as the No. 3 seed in the Landmark Conference standings and will host No. 6-seeded Susquehanna in the first round of the Landmark Championship tournament on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

It was a scoreless match until the River Hawks (4-8-5, 2-3-4) struck in the 41st minute on a goal from Morgan Stickley. The hosts held a 6-2 shot advantage in the opening half, but Stickley's goal was the only shot on frame by either side.

Susquehanna went on to outshoot the Rangers 6-4 in the second half, but that's when freshman Sarah Crowley made both of her saves for Drew. However, Mikeala Florio set the final score when she struck in the 58th minute.

Freshman Maeve O'Murchu placed a shot on goal in the 65th minute, but that's when Kayleigh Saboja made her only save of the match for Susquehanna.

The two sides will be meeting in the postseason for the second year in a row, as the Rangers earned a 1-0 overtime victory at Susquehanna in the semifinals of last year's Landmark Conference Championships.
