DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. – Sophomore
Elliot Parker of the Drew University men's golf team placed fifth among 96 competitors and earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team at the West Pines Intercollegiate, hosted by Oglethorpe University on Monday and Tuesday in Georgia.
Parker fired a 2-under-par 140 for the 36-hole event, shooting a 70 in back-to-back rounds while taking on some of the top golf competition in Division III. In his final round, he birdied four holes – including three on the front-9 – and eagled the par-5 fourth hole.
As a team, the Rangers tied for 11th with a 608 (307-301). Led by medalist Beck Lewis (133), Oglethorpe won the event with a 561.
Freshman
Avery Cohen shot a 76 for the second day in a row to tie for 36th with a 152 as the second finisher for the Rangers. Sophomore
Shiv Bhaskar carded his second consecutive 78 and tied for 60th with a 156 while freshman
Nicky Riscica sliced six strokes from his opening round score and shot a 77 on Tuesday, tying for 78th with a 160. Junior
Mike Ford also competed and posted a 169 (84-85).
The Rangers continue their season on Thursday, when their B team competes in the Drew Birdie Bash at Flanders Valley Golf Course in Flanders, New Jersey.
