Women’s Soccer Downs Wilkes, Runs Win Streak to Five

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Drew University women's soccer team received goals from three different players and the Rangers ran their winning streak to five with a 3-0 victory at Wilkes University in a Landmark Conference affair Tuesday event.

The Rangers renewed their conference rivalry with the Colonels, as the two sides were MAC Freedom Conference opponents prior to Drew becoming a founding member of the Landmark Conference in 2007.

The Rangers (8-4, 3-0 LC) won their fifth game in a row while remaining unbeaten in conference play. Drew is now on its longest win streak since a school-record 11-gamer in 2013 and is 3-0 in the Landmark Conference since the same season.

Senior Rebecca Racine handed out two assists for the Rangers while freshman Sarah Crowley, the reigning Landmark Conference Defensive Athlete of the Week, turned aside four shots for her second clean sheet of the year.

Junior Kat Kugler gave the Rangers all the scoring they would need when she converted a feed from Racine in the 20th minute for her seventh goal of the season. Drew outshot Wilkes 9-3 and carried a 1-0 lead into the locker room.

Junior Alexa Krause followed up two minutes into the second half with an unassisted tally. Freshman Maeve O'Murchu provided the finishing touches in the 75th minute with her first collegiate goal, which was also assisted by Racine.

The Rangers are back in Landmark Conference action on Saturday, when they visit Catholic University at 3:30 p.m.
