Women’s Tennis Rolls Past Roanoke

Box Score HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Drew University women's tennis team earned its second straight victory to open its spring break trip to Hilton Head, topping Roanoke College 8-1 on Monday.
 
The Rangers (2-0) jumped out to a 3-0 lead after sweeping the doubles competition. Sophomore Courtney Bresler and freshman Sofiya Lebedeva won 8-3 at No. 1 while sophomore Mary Kalorin and freshman Natalia Zamora prevailed 8-6 at No. 2. Sophomore Melina Christodoulou and freshman Jada Worthem added an 8-3 win at No. 3.
 
In singles action, the Rangers won the top four flights, with Christodoulou (6-2, 6-2) and Kalorin (6-4, 6-2) winning at Nos. 1-2, respectively. Drew also captured a pair of points via tiebreaker, as senior Sanne Bloemendaal won 6-2, 3-6, 10-4 at No. 3 while classmate Danielle DelRosso recorded a 5-7, 6-2, 10-4 victory at No. 4. Worthem added an 8-4 victory at No. 6.
 
Drew completes its six-day, five-match trip on Wednesday, when it takes on Marian University at 8:30 a.m. in Hilton Head and visits Savannah State University at 5 p.m.
