WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Drew University women's tennis team rolled to its fourth straight shutout, including three in a row versus a Landmark Conference opponent with a 9-0 victory at Catholic University on Sunday.
The Rangers (8-1, 4-0 LC) earned their 13th straight victory over a Landmark Conference opponent and their 11th consecutive Landmark Conference regular-season win.
In doubles play, sophomore
Mary Kalorin and freshman
Sofiya Lebedeva won 8-2 at No. 1 while seniors
Sanne Bloemendaal and
Melina Christodoulou captured an 8-1 victory at No. 2. Sophomore
Courtney Bresler and senior
Danielle DelRosso contributed an 8-1 win at No. 3. All three tandems remained undefeated in Landmark Conference competition.
All six players went on to earn singles victories. Lebedeva won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 for her sixth consecutive win, improving to 8-1 on the season. Christodoulou and Kalorin posted identical 6-0, 6-1 wins at Nos. 2-3 singles, respectively, while Blomendaal was a 6-1, 6-1 winner at No. 4, pushing her record to 6-0. DelRosso added a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 5 while Bresler prevailed 6-2, 6-4 at No. 6. Lebedeva (3-0), Kalorin (3-0), Blomendaal (4-0), and DelRosso (2-0) stayed undefeated in conference play.
The Rangers are back in action on Saturday, when they visit Goucher College at 1 p.m. in another Landmark Conference tilt.
