PURCHASE, N.Y. – Manhattanville College broke a scoreless tie in the final minutes and the host Valiants handed the Drew University women's soccer team a 1-0 setback in the Rangers' season opener on Friday.
Mia Castaneda struck for the game-winner in the 88th minute for Manhattanville, which was outshot 12-9. The Valiants took four shots on goal while the Rangers placed three shots on frame.
In her collegiate debut, freshman
Sarah Crowley registered three saves for Drew. Junior
Alexa Krause (five) and senior
Rebecca Racine (three) combined to take eight shots for the Rangers.
Drew picks up its schedule on Sunday, when it hosts King's College at 1 p.m. in a non-conference matchup.
