GENEVA, N.Y. – Three members of the Drew University women's tennis team competed in the opening day of the ITA Division III Northeast Region Championships on Saturday at William Smith College.
In the main draw of singles play, junior
Mary Kalorin faced Aira Abalos of The College of New Jersey, seeded in the 9-16 range, but lost 6-0, 6-0. Abalos would go on to win her second-round match to reach the Round of 16.
Sophomore
Natalia Zamora also played in the main singles draw and took on Medina Yessenaliyeva of Landmark Conference opponent Juniata College. Yessenaliyeva won by scores of 6-0, 6-2.
Kalorin also competed in the main doubles draw with junior
Courtney Bresler. The pair faced Prisha Rapur and Krisia Flores Gonzalez of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and came up on the short end of an 8-3 decision.
The Rangers concluded the fall portion of their schedule and will return to action on Feb. 10 with a home match versus Ithaca College.
