MADISON, N.J. – The 2013 Drew University women's soccer team will be recognized as a "Team of Distinction" during the 32nd Drew Athletics Hall of Fame induction on Oct. 13.
The ceremony will be held on campus at the Dorothy Young Center for the Arts, starting at 7 p.m. Four alumni –
Michael Bodden C'13,
Daniel Bonder C'09,
George Discher C'87, and
Alex Previdi C'94 will be inducted as Hall of Fame nominees.
Along with the 2013 women's soccer team,
Cris and
Doug C'58 Lonnstrom will receive special recognition as Golden "D" Award winners.
The Rangers captured their first Landmark Conference women's soccer title in dramatic fashion in 2013, defeating the University of Scranton 4-3 in penalty kicks after the two sides played to a 1-1 tie in the conference final.
Melanie Santos C'16 scored the fourth and final goal in PKs to clinch an automatic berth in the NCAA Division III Championships for the Rangers.
Emma Campbell C'16 gave Drew an early 1-0 lead when she scored in the seventh minute, and
Agata Dera C'14 collected five saves en route to being named the tournament Most Valuable Player.
Under Head Coach
Christa Racine, the Rangers finished the season with a stellar 15-4-1 record and compiled a school-record 11-game win streak. Campbell and
Liz Loiodice C'14 led the squad with 15 goals each, and both were honored with a spot on the NSCAA All-Region Team.
