MADISON, N.J. – The Drew University women's volleyball team was handed a 3-0 setback by the University Scranton in a Landmark Conference affair Tuesday evening in Baldwin Gym.
The Royals (11-10, 3-0 LC) won by scores of 25-18, 25-20, and 25-14.
Junior
Emily Shirk led the way for the Rangers with 10 kills while hitting .273. Sophomore
Alyssa Rachwal distributed 17 assists while senior
Genevieve Sarinelli scooped nine digs.
Erin Keaveny posted 12 kills to lead Scranton, which hit .345.
The Rangers led 11-9 early in the opening set and trailed just 19-16 before the Royals scored four straight points to pull away late.
Scranton never trailed in the second set, though the Rangers trailed just 13-12 and used a late 3-1 spurt to pull to within 21-18, but that's as close as they would get.
Drew trailed only 8-7 in the final game, but that's when the Royals used a 6-0 run to open up a gap. Scranton led by at least five the rest of the way.
The Rangers continue their Landmark Conference schedule on Friday, when they visit Elizabethtown in a 6 p.m. start.
