Women’s Soccer Topped by Lycoming on Senior Day

MADISON, N.J. – Lycoming College scored the game's first three goals and the Warriors handed the Drew University women's soccer team a 3-1 setback in Landmark Conference action and Senior Day at Ranger Stadium on Saturday.

Despite the loss, the Rangers (7-6-4, 3-3-2 LC) have clinched a spot in the upcoming Landmark Conference Championships due to Moravian's 1-0 victory at Juniata on Saturday. Drew will enter its regular-season finale tied with Catholic University for fifth in the conference standings; the top-six squads in the conference reach the postseason.

Drew's six seniors - Mazzy Cirinelli, Isabella Grof-Tisza, Hailey Hearney, Fiona Hovey, Alexa Krause, and Kat Kugler - were honored in a brief ceremony prior to the start of the match.

Mikayla Long notched a hat trick for the Warriors (13-2-3, 5-1-2 LC), scoring all three of her team's goals over the game's opening 35 minutes. Riley Block finished with 11 saves for Lycoming.

Sophomore Maeve O'Murchu put the Rangers on the scoreboard in the 41st minute, finishing off a pass from senior Alexa Krause for her third goal of the season.

The Rangers outshot Lyco 11-7 in the first half and piled up nine shots on goal, but Block turned aside eight shots in the opening period.

Drew continued to threaten offensively in the second half, when it held a 12-8 shot advantage. However, Block turned aside all three of Drew's shots on frame.

Sophomore Sarah Crowley made six saves for the Rangers, including five in a scoreless second half.

Drew closes out the regular season next Saturday, when it hosts Susquehanna at 1 p.m. in a Landmark Conference matchup.
