MADISON, N.J. – Rebecca Racine scored in the 82nd minute and the Drew University women's soccer team played Wilkes University to a 1-1 tie in Landmark Conference action Wednesday evening in Ranger Stadium.
In a defensive-minded affair, each side was held to two shots on goal, with Drew's
Sarah Crowley and Wilkes' Amanda Lee each making one save.
Erin Edwards scored in the 11th minute for the Colonels (3-6-3, 0-1-2 LC), as her long shot deflected off the hand of a leaping Crowley and into the back of the net.
The Rangers (4-4-4, 0-1-2 LC) outshot Wilkes 5-2 in the first half and 7-2 over the opening 36 minutes of the second half before breaking through on Racine's tally. Freshman
Kristina Lowe lobbed a pass into the left side of the box, where Racine chipped it over the goalie and off the right post. She followed and sent home her own rebound into the center of the net for her fourth goal of the season.
The Rangers attempted a pair of shots down the stretch, but neither were on frame.
Drew returns to action on Saturday, when they host Catholic University at 1 p.m. in another Landmark Conference tilt.
