STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The Drew University women's indoor track & field team posted numerous outstanding performances on Friday at
the Wagner Seahawk Shootout at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
For the second meet in a row, sophomore
Sage Hendershot turned in a tremendous showing in the long jump. Six days after winning the event at the team's season opener, Hendershot sailed 5.66 meters (18-6 3/4), smashing her own school record by over eight inches. She came in third in a field of 46 and was the top Division III finisher, placing behind only Ija Mumford of Howard (19-5) and Rett Schnoorf of Monmouth (18-7 1/2). She is now ranked sixth in Division III in the event.
Hendershot also placed 16th in a field of 74 in the 60-meter dash. She clocked a time of 7.95 seconds to win her heat and finish as the top Division III competitor.
Junior
Emily Camlet also posting a record-breaking performance in the 300-meter dash. She was timed at 41.09 seconds – a team and Landmark Conference record. She placed 16th out of 90 competitors and was the top Division III finisher.
Sophomore
Lauren Rizzolo placed 22nd out of 47 competitors in the shot put with a throw of 9.50 meters (31-2) , and she came in 20th in a field of 37 in the weight throw with a launch of 10.72 meters (35-2). Both marks improved upon her own team records.
The Rangers, competing in their second year as a varsity program, also established a program standard in the 4x200-meter relay, as sophomore
Lauryn Brown, Hendershot, Camlet, and senior
Mazzy Cirinelli teamed up for a time of 1:52.50.
The Rangers are off for the remainder of the calendar year. The squad picks up its schedule on Friday, Jan. 17 at the Ramapo College Season Opener at The Armory in New York City.
