LA CROSSE, Wisc. – Senior
Emily Camlet placed 13th in preliminaries of the 400-meter dash to capture Second Team All-America honors on the second day of the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
Camlet secured her first career All-America award while competing in her third national championship in the 400. She also placed 17th at the NCAA Indoor Championships this past winter and 20th at the 2025 indoor meet. In addition, she becomes Drew's second All-American in track & field, joining teammate
Sage Hendershot, who placed seventh in the long jump at last year's NCAA Outdoor Championships and 16th at the 2025 indoor nationals.
The top-eight finishers in every event earn First Team All-America honors while the ninth through the 16th-place finishers capture Second Team All-America status.
A total of 22 athletes competed over three heats in the 400. The top-nine qualified for Saturday's final.
"Emily's race today and her commitment towards daily excellence embodies the meaning of All-America status, which represents the highest level of recognition in one's sport," remarked Drew Head Coach
Sean Robinson.
Running in the second heat, Camlet drew the innermost lane assignment, starting in lane 2. She faced a large gap early in the race, with many of her opponents in the outer lanes opening with a fast pace. However, she held steady and eventually made up the stagger before finishing with a strong kick. She passed two runners in the final 100 meters to place sixth in her heat with a season-best time of 55.75 seconds, just 0.14 seconds shy of her own school and Landmark Conference record.
Sophomore
Lauryn Brown also competed at the Championships on Saturday, making her debut at nationals after qualifying in the triple jump. She fouled on each of her three jumps and did not receive a placement. She was the first Ranger in the three-year history of Drew track & field to compete in the triple jump at an NCAA championship event.
