Men’s Basketball Cruises Past Saint Elizabeth for Sixth Straight Win

MADISON, N.J. – The Drew University men's basketball team scored 64 points in the first half and the Rangers cruised to their sixth straight victory with a 110-82 win over local Saint Elizabeth University Saturday afternoon in Baldwin Gym.

Drew (7-2), which captured its sixth straight victory, shot 52.4 % (11-for-17) from 3-point territory in the opening period. The Rangers canned a season-high 17 3-pointers for the game.

Seventeen of the 21 players who entered the game scored a point, with junior forward Kevin Cronin, senior forward Peso Crump, sophomore guard Eli Yusavage, and sophomore forward Matthew Zenker dropping 13 points each. Graduate guard James Anderson and Senior guard Malcolm Newman contributed 11 points apiece.

Tye-Rell Monroe paced the Eagles (3-7) with 26 points.

Drew has now scored over 100 points in five different games this season. The team's 110 points tied for the 10th-most in team history.

The Rangers trailed only twice during the game – at 2-0 and 4-3. Drew led 24-18 with 12:03 left in the opening half before a dunk from Zenker kicked off a 21-8 run that also included a vicious slam over a defender by Yusavage. Drew led 64-35 at the intermission.

The Rangers did not slow down the pace in the second half, and their lead reached 30 (71-41) following a 3-ball from Anderson with 15:54 remaining. Drew's advantage topped out at 38 (89-51)) on a layup from Zenker with 9:58 to go. The Eagles were able to trim the deficit to 25 with 1:05 to go but it wasn't nearly enough to overcome another big offensive showing from the Rangers.

The Blue and Green are now off until Dec. 30, when they travel to Rowan University for a non-conference affair starting at 3 p.m.
