Sage Hendershot won the long jump to lead the Drew University women's track & field team in its indoor season opener – the TCNJ Indoor Opener – on Saturday at The Armory.
The meet kicked off the second year of varsity competition for the Rangers.
An all-region long jumper during both the indoor and outdoor seasons last year, Hendershot soared 5.44 meters (17-10 1/4) to beat out 19 other competitors while smashing her own indoor school record of 5.27 meters.
Hendershot ended up lowering her own school record in two additional events as well, including a fifth-place finish in a field of 54 in the 60-meter dash. She was timed at 8.02 in the final, but her time of 7.93 in prelims was a program-best. In addition, she finished 16th in a field of 43 in the 300-meter dash (43.10).
Junior
