MADISON, N.J. – The Drew University men's lacrosse team opened the game on a 6-1 run and never looked back, downing Gwynedd Mercy University 16-10 for a non-conference victory in Ranger Stadium Wednesday evening.
Junior
Mike DeMayo and sophomore
Riley Zeer led the way offensively for the Rangers (3-1), who racked up a 55-35 shot advantage. DeMayo posted four goals and three assists while Zeer recorded four goals and two helpers.

Charlie Collins and senior
Tommy Larmore added two goals and two assists apiece for Drew while senior
GJ Nazziola went 21-for-29 on faceoffs and picked up 15 ground balls.
Freshman
Joe Barnish played the opening 49 minutes in goal and collected eight saves for the Rangers while senior
Tyler McCarthy posted three caused turnovers.
Nick Flamma and Gunner Seaman totaled three kills and one assist apiece for Gwynedd Mercy (0-3).
Larmore struck for the game's first goal a minute and a half into the game before the Griffins pulled even midway through the quarter. But Drew ended the period on a 3-0 spurt, receiving goals from Collins, Zeer, and senior
Alex Higgins.
The Rangers ripped in a pair of shots over the opening 1:41 of the second quarter on goals from Larmore and DeMayo to build their 6-1 advantage. Senior
Brett Spafford and Larmore each scored later in the stanza and Drew carried an 8-4 lead into the intermission.
Drew opened up some breathing room with its run to open the second half, which included three goals from Zeer and two from DeMayo. The two sides then traded goals and the Rangers led 14-6 at the half.
Gwynedd Mercy outscored the Rangers 4-2 in the final quarter, but were unable to get closer than six.
Drew continues its season next Wednesday, when it visits Manhattanville College in a noon start.
