MADISON, N.J. – The Drew University men's lacrosse team concluded play at the inaugural Leanos Cup on Sunday with a 27-5 loss to Haverford College in the tournament consolation game.
The tournament is named after former Drew Men's Lacrosse Head Coach
Tom Leanos, the team's all-time winningest coach who compiled 234 victories in a career that spanned four decades from 1988-2017.
In the first game of the day, 17th-ranked Stevens Institute defeated Rhodes College 12-6 in the tournament championship game.
Five different players scored a goal for the Rangers (5-3), as senior
Tommy Larmore, sophomore
Cole Kirker, junior
Charlie Collins, sophomore
Riley Zeer, and senior
Brett Spafford each found the back of the net.
The Fords (4-4), who raced out to a 10-1 lead at the end of the first quarter, received six goals and three assists from Reid Tietjen.
Freshman
Joe Barnish started in goal for Drew and made a career-high 17 saves over 40 minutes of action. Sophomore
Sawyer Kennedy collected seven saves over 14 minutes while freshman
Will Shandlay played the final six minutes in net.
The Rangers play their Landmark Conference opener on Saturday, when they visit Susquehanna University starting at 1 p.m.
