SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Susquehanna University scored the game's first six goals and the River Hawks used the fast start to hand the Drew University men's lacrosse team a 17-6 setback in its Landmark Conference opener on Saturday.
The Rangers (5-4, 0-1 LC) received three goals from senior
Kellum Foster-Palmer while junior
Mike DeMayo added a goal and two assists. Junior
Charlie Collins contributed a pair of assists.
Brennan Lorence notched five goals and two assists for Susquehanna (7-2, 1-0 LC).
Foster-Palmer put the Rangers on the scoreboard, making it 6-1 with 9:29 left in the first quarter. Senior
Brett Spafford added a goal 37 seconds left in the half to make it an 8-2 game at the break.
DeMayo and Foster-Palmer each scored for Drew in the third quarter and the Rangers trailed 13-4 heading into the final period. Foster-Palmer and junior
Joey Larmore found the back of the net once apiece in the fourth quarter.
Freshman
Joe Barnish started in goal for the Rangers and made 13 saves over the opening 47 minutes while sophomore
Sawyer Kennedy stopped five shots in 13 minutes.
Drew returns to action next Saturday, when it visits Catholic University at 1 p.m. in another Landmark Conference affair.
