EASTON, Pa. and LITITZ, Pa. – The Drew University men's golf team shot a 299 at two different tournaments in Pennsylvania on Monday.
On the final day of the ABARTA Coca-Cola Collegiate Invitational, a Division I event hosted by Lafayette College at the Northampton Country Club, the Rangers' primary squad finished 11th among 13 teams with a 36-hole score of 612 (313-299) with the team's first sub-300 of the spring.
Not long afterwards, Drew's "B" team replicated the feat at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational, held at Bent Creek Country Club, where the Rangers placed fourth out of 13 teams.
At the ABARTA Invitational, sophomore
Elliot Parker led the Rangers, tying for 15th among 81 golfers with a 3-over-par 147 (73-74). Junior
Mike Ford was Drew's second finisher, tying for 37th with a score of 152 (78-74) after posting three birdies on Monday.
Sophomore
Shiv Bhaskar led all Rangers with four birdies on the second day of the tournament and tied for 48th with a 154 (82-72) while freshman
Nicky Riscica rounded out the team scoring with a 162 (83-79). Freshman
Eric Castner also competed and posted a 168 (80-88).
Lehigh University captured the team title with a 572 (288-284) while Jake Mrva of Fordham University claimed medalist honors with a 139 (72-67).
Meanwhile, sophomore
Ryan Ricci led the Rangers at Bent Creek, tying for seventh in a field of 69 with a collegiate-low, 2-over-par 73 that included three birdies. Freshman
Ray Kim was just one stroke back, placing 10th with a season-low 74 while firing four birdies.
Seniors
Matvey Pangan and
Myles Cherry rounded out the team scoring, tying for 17th with a 76. Cherry led all Rangers with five birdies on the day. Freshman
Liam Larkin was also in action and tied for 40th with an 84.
Franklin & Marshall, led by medalist Roy Anderson's 5-under 66, claimed the team title with a 282.
The Rangers will now compete at the "Conquer the Island" event on Thursday at the Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort, the host site of the Landmark Conference Championships later this month.
