SHAWNEE ON DELAWARE, Pa. – Sophomore
Elliot Parker fired a 5-under-par 67, leading the Drew University men's golf team into the lead following the opening round of the Landmark Conference Championship on Saturday at Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort.
The Rangers shot a 293 – their lowest round of the spring – and hold a three-stroke lead over the University of Scranton. Catholic University is second with a 306 while Moravian University (309) and Goucher College (311) round out the top-five.
Parker fired five birdies and one eagle and holds a five-stroke lead over Moravian's Jason Koch. It was the second-best round of Parker's collegiate career and his fourth sub-70 of the season.
Junior
Mike Ford was Drew's second finisher on Saturday, carding a 73 to place him in a tie for third place among 49 golfers. He notched three birdies and parred his last eight holes. Freshman
Eric Castner is in a four-way tie for second with a 76 after parring 13 holes, including every hole on the front-9.
Sophomore
Liam Larkin contributed a 77 in the opening round after firing five birdies on Saturday. Classmate
Shiv Bhaskar is also in action and opened with an 81, placing him in a tie for 29th.
